I’m going to be running the Madrid Half Marathon in April, to fundraise for Epilepsy Action UK. Epilepsy is one of the most common serious neurological conditions in the world, and affects almost 1 in 100 people in the UK. Not enough is known about this condition which affects so many and I hope by fundraising for Epilepsy Action I can help them continue in their research and support. Epilepsy Action works to give expert advice to those affected by the condition, reduce isolation, improve public attitudes, influence decision makers, support professionals, and enable vital research. This research is used to reveal more about the causes of epilepsy, to discover new treatments and one day, a cure.

I’m running in support of the Jaunceys and the Harkers, two special and inspiring families who both lost wonderful people, far too young, to epilepsy. Both deaths were sudden and unexpected, and terrible for all those who knew and loved the boys and their families. I will be donating any money raised to Epilepsy Action UK in the hope that their fantastic work continues, and one day no more families will go through this.
